Size reduction technology for vehicle recycling

At the IFAT 2002 WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH will present several innovative solutions for size reduction of vehicle parts from plastic, rubber and composites. The installations shown are both suited for rejected parts and production wastes from component production and for appropriate vehicle parts from the disassembly of old vehicles.

With the one-shaft size reduction machines of the WLK series and the four-shaft size reducers of the ZMK series there are two different size reduction concepts available that may flexibly adjusted to the respective setting of tasks. Beside rather problem-free components such as wheel arches and axle caps, headlamp shells, etc. also bulk deep-drawn and injection moulded parts such as passenger car and truck bumpers or composites such as instrument panels, carpets, door coverings can be reduced in size. Moreover, well proved solutions are offered for the size reduction of contaminated and/or polluted materials such as batteries, coolant and fuel tanks or for viscoplastic rubber components.

Designing the machines is performed in accordance with customer specifications concerning nature, size and composition of the materials to be reduced in size. Operational capacities from 150 to 3,000 kg/h and a large bandwidth of target grain sizes are possible.
