granulation equipment |

| JSC KazanOrgSyntez is the largest
producer of PE in Russia. In 2004, it produced 388,400 tonnes of HDPE and LDPE,
amounting to about 40% of total Russian output. The company also produces PE
pipes, phenol, acetone, ethylene oxide, a wide range of organic products based
on ethylene oxide, woven bags and other products. |

Today, as production
levels are rising, the company has embarked on a programme of reconstruction and
modernisation of some departments and works using modern technology and
machinery. For example, a new plant is being contracted for production of
polycarbonate.
Y.A. Belonogov, who is the head of the KazanOrgSyntez workshop, says: We pay a
lot of attention
to the ecological side of our activity. In particular, we have established a new
workshop in November 2004 to recycle our own production waste. The main problem
during recycling of polymer waste is large extrusion lumps and large pipes with
diameter up to one metre, which cannot be cut by the usual grinding machines due
to their large weight and dimensions. The solution has been found with the help
of the company Trigla, that represents WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH in Russia. We
have installed a 2-stage recycling line based on a WEIMA WLK10 shredder. This
line provides us with a very efficient recycling process for granulation of
lumps and pipes down to 6mm granulate. The complex is equipped with soundproofed
cabinets, conveyors, dust collecting devices and metal separation units. We plan
to recycle about 80% of our waste on the WEIMA line. |
