New secondary granulator for processing of alternative fuels

Dutch alternative fuel processor produces high throughput with the new Weima secondary granulator, further demand and increase in turnover expected in 2006, customer support team strengthened, new primary granulator for alternative fuel processing

The Dutch company VAR B.V. (www.var.nl) in Twello, The Netherlands, has recently put a new WFC 2000 / 12000 single shaft granulator (Illustration) from WEIMA Maschinenbau GmbH, Ilsfeld into operation at its location in Spijk. The company uses this high performance granulator in particular for secondary granulation of highly calorific waste, especially carpets, into quality assured alternative fuels. The design concept of the machine does justice to a large extent to the continually increasing requirements for higher and higher throughput performance and smaller particle size, especially for customers in the power generating and cement industries.
The working width of the rotors of the new WFC 2000 / 1200 secondary granulator amounts to 2,000 mm with the rotor diameter of 1,200 mm. The power rating is 400 kW and the overall weight approx. 45 t. Throughput performance amounts to approx. 15-17 t/h with granulate particle size of 20 mm.
Demand in the “replacement fuels” business unit has presently grown strongly across Europe. The team that is responsible here for providing the best possible customer support has been strengthened at the beginning of 2006 with two experienced employees. The share of turnover achieved here presently lies at around 30%. alongside the conventional granulation and briquetting products in the “plastics and recycling” and “wood” business units. WEIMA Holding expects further growth in turnover of 25 percent in 2006. Among others, these positive expectations are also supported by the development of a WEIMA primary granulator for this application area.
